a string of poems - 1

by Aditi G

When I‘m sad

or in despair

to you I become

a freaky scare

When I scream

or shout

or sob about

how the world

is so not fair

you wince,

you grit - (your teeth)

& pull your hair

But in the end
you still are there!

ANGST

SUFFOCATES MISERY

AS HER DESIRE DAMPENS

THE PILLOW SHE WOVE

HER DREAMS ON

AGONY SNIFFLES

CURLED UP AS A FOETUS

SHE CLINGS ON

TO THE LAST BIT

OF WARMTH THAT'S AROUND

IN HOWLING SILENCE

THE DOWNPOUR CONTINUES

EVEN OUTSIDE

AS THE WET GRAYS

SHOWER THEIR PITY

ONTO THE DARK WISPS

HOT TEARS

FLOWING AWAY

SHE SITS THERE

IN THE COMPANY OF HERSELF

SOAKING THE DAMPNESS UP

WASHING THE SINS

OF REMINISCENCE AWAY

SOAKING

TILL SHE'S ALL

COLD AND NUMB.

SILENT NOISE

Words are sweet

But they deceive

Your silences

Convey

Not what the mind says

But the heart craves

The words you offer

On your platter

Dipped in honey

Kissed with sugar

But it’s the pricking silence

That nibbles

The mind instead

Your silence

Screams in the head

My heart desires to interpret

The more I try

To listen

The more deafening

It sounds

It’s like silence

Sitting between us both

Like a third person

Translating to the other

What the first

Is trying to say

Somehow I'm lost

Your silence

Isn’t quiet

But loud and noisy

Disturbs the peace

Is intrusive

Conveys more

Than your words

Yet somehow

The need is felt

To word your silence

For me to know

What the heart hums

That the silence can’t sing

Your silence

Is so loud

It doesn’t speak

It's so deafening

Yet so silent.
